Summarize CSV data with a pivot table

A flat CSV export is great for storage but hard to summarize at a glance. This Pivot Table tool reshapes rows into a cross-tabulation in your browser: pick a field for the rows, a field for the columns and a numeric field to aggregate, and the page builds a grid showing totals for every combination. It works like the pivot feature in a spreadsheet, but runs entirely on your device, so sales data, survey responses and operational logs stay private while you analyze them.

The parser handles quoted fields, embedded commas and line breaks inside cells, so real exports load correctly. After choosing fields, the tool groups every data row by its row-field and column-field values, then aggregates the value field within each cell. Unique values become the row and column headers automatically, and a totals row sums each column so you can read both detail and grand totals in one view.

Sum, count and average

Three aggregations cover the most common questions. Sum adds the value field within each cell, ideal for revenue, quantity or hours. Count tallies how many rows fall into each cell, which is useful for frequency tables and works even when the value field is text. Average divides the sum by the count to show a mean, helpful for prices, scores or ratings. Non-numeric values are treated as zero for sum and average so a stray label does not break the calculation, while count includes every matching row.

Export and reuse the result

Once the pivot looks right, download it as a CSV file that mirrors the on-screen table, including the header row, the row labels and the totals row. That makes it easy to drop the summary into a report, share it with a colleague or import it into another tool for charting. Because the whole process is client-side, you can adjust the fields or aggregation and rebuild instantly, iterating toward the exact summary you need without uploading the underlying data anywhere.

How to use

  1. Add CSVPaste CSV text or upload a file with a header row.
  2. Choose fieldsPick the row field, column field, value field and an aggregation.
  3. Build and exportRender the pivot table and download it as CSV.

Frequently asked questions

Is my CSV uploaded to build the pivot?
No. The CSV is parsed and the pivot table is computed in your browser. The data never leaves your device.
Which aggregations are available?
Sum, count and average. Sum and average use the numeric value field, while count tallies the matching rows in each cell.
Can I export the pivot?
Yes. The rendered pivot table, including row and column headers and a totals row, can be downloaded as a CSV file.
